MIPS 2018 Results Available to Providers

Date: August 13, 2019

CMS recently announced that MIPS 2018 scoring is available for providers to check.  No matter how you reported for 2018 – via registry, direct EHR, or claims, you must go to the CMS portal and login to see the results.  Even registries cannot show this CMS-specific information to you as it’s behind your unique “HARP user ID” and password and the two-factor authentication set-up within the CMS system.  If you have not set up your HARP account in CMS, we noted that mechanism in another WebNews in January.  You can link directly to that specific WebNews with the HARP information here.

After you login, you can see your 2018 MIPS performance for each TIN you may have participated in for the 2018 performance year.

Importantly, if you note an error in any of your MIPS 2018 scores, you can request a “targeted review” with CMS of your scores.  CMS has a “Targeted Review User Guide” that can help.  Go to the QPP Resource Library link here and scroll all the way to the bottom.  When you get there you will see a box that says “See all” and then click it and the list of documents will expand.  Then scroll down through the expanded list of documents, you will see the document “2018 Targeted Review User Guide”.  Click the link and the PDF document will download to your computer.

If requesting a review, there is a specific targeted review request form that must be used; it can be accessed from your MIPS 2018 performance feedback page.  Be sure to note that you found an error, are disputing it, and asking for it to be fixed.  The deadline to file a dispute for any errors is September 30, 2019 at 8 PM Eastern time.  Results of the 2018 MIPS scoring review are then sent via email to the person making the request, so be sure that information is correct when submitting.  CMS notes that all targeted review appeals decisions are final.

We are happy to assist providers and groups in any way with MIPS, general claims issues as well as other coverage topics, which include proper code selection, chart reviews, and payer action questions.  We can also provide training on these or other subjects.  You can also download our “App”, Corcoran 24/7, which can be separately accessed via one of the links below.
